So you’re interested in becoming a member of the Viking Ski Club? Great! We’re so excited for you. Before you jump right in, first let us tell you about the expectations and responsibilities of membership. It’s pretty simple!
Membership Requirements
Attend at least 3 meetings per year. Meetings happen monthly via Zoom call. See Events for meeting information.
Participate in at least one work party per year at the cabin. Work parties typically happen during the summer and sometimes fall, and are an important time when everyone chips in and helps with maintenance and care of the facilities.
Pay an annual membership of $125 (plus a one-time initiation fee of $125).
Ready to get started?
Your first step towards joining the club is to attend one of our monthly meetings. There, you’ll get to meet our members, learn about how we operate, and ask any questions you may have.
Next, you’ll need to visit the cabin (stay overnight) and receive cabin orientation, as a guest of one of our members. If you already know someone in our club, that’s the best way to arrange a visit. If not, please contact vikingskiclub01@gmail.com and we will help connect you with a member willing to sponsor your visit.
Finally, in order to apply for membership you must be sponsored by a current member. This could be the member that sponsored your cabin stay, but it doesn’t have to be. Feel free to meet and get to know as many members as you can, and attend as many of our meetings as you’d like, before you decide to apply. Once you are ready to apply, download and submit the membership application along with the application fee of $25 (will be credited towards the initiation fee upon acceptance).
The Board evaluates applications monthly and will notify you by email when you are approved as a Probationary member. At that time you will pay your annual dues plus the remaining $100 of the initiation fee.
All new members remain in Probationary status for one year, before they can move to full Active Member status, upon approval by Board vote.
Junior Membership
After an adult has passed probation, his or her children age seven or over* are eligible for Junior Membership, giving them the member nightly rate for cabin stays. During the parents probation, children pay member rates. Children who do not become Junior Members when eligible are charged the guest rate.
The Junior Membership annual fee is $50.
*While children must be at least seven years old to apply for Junior Membership, children of all ages are welcome to stay at the cabin.
